Founded: 1986
Defunct: 1997

The fokker 100 is a regional jet airliner still in service since 1986 by the Dutch aircraft manufacturer Fokker. It is the F28’s successor, with improved wings for more efficient cruising, updated engines, and various other modern features. The most visible difference is it much longer length, seating 107, about 65% more. In 1993, additional fuel tanks in the wings were added, and even a shorter version was developed, with just 80 seats.

Affordable and with lower operating costs, the Fokker 100 had a highly successful initial run, with big clients like American Airlines. But as competition increased, Fokker itself collapsed in bankruptcy by 1996. Over 150 are still in service today by 30 airlines from around the world.
